Electronic Testing
All national medical licensing exams are
currently computerized. To best prepare our students,
all UConn School of Medicine exams
are administered using electronic testing software. In
order to ensure that students have uniformity in testing
environments, there is a laptop requirement.
Laptop Requirement
As one of the curricular tools, a
school-required laptop will be preordered for each
student and distributed during orientation. The laptops
come pre-loaded with curricular software chosen by the
faculty. The school required laptop is itemized on
student tuition and fee bills. If a student receives
financial aid, the cost of the laptop is included in the
budget prepared by the financial aid office.
Virtual Microscopy
The UConn School
of Medicine uses virtual microscopy as part of the
curriculum. Virtual microscopy allows all students to
simultaneously view microscope images right on their
laptop screens. The microscope images can be zoomed in
and out to offer high levels of detail. This is
especially useful given the presence of computerized
images on national medical licensing exams.
