Transfer Students

Admission with Advanced Standing

The Admissions Committee will consider applications from current second-year students of American and Canadian medical schools for entry to the third-year class. Applications for advanced standing can be obtained from the Student Services Admissions Center. Since the school takes its full complement of students in the first year, only an occasional position becomes available for transfer. Preference in admission is given to residents of Connecticut. Also, an admission will be issued only if there are compelling circumstances for transfer, and only if the transfer has the full support of the student’s current medical school.

Applicants for advanced standing must complete and submit the school’s Advanced Standing Application, the Supplemental Statement, application fee, transcripts for all academic work completed, MCAT scores and Step 1 of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), and letters of recommendation. Interviews are arranged at the request of the Admissions Committee only, and are normally conducted in July or August. Offers of admission require students to meet with faculty to determine an academic schedule. Ordinarily, some clinical clerkship experience, completed at the parent school, will be allowed for elective credit and applied to the senior year program. Under normal schedules and circumstances, students are able to complete the requirements within two years, pursuing normal third and fourth year schedules.

When possible, it is our preference that you complete your supplemental application using a PC (vs. a Mac).
