All accepted and continuing students applying for
financial aid must complete a Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) on the web at
www.fafsa.ed.gov. There is no fee for processing the FAFSA. The
UConn School of Medicine school code to file a FAFSA is G09867.
The UConn School of Dental Medicine school code to file a FAFSA is
G11215.

Your eligibility for the Federal Subsidized Stafford
Loan, the Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan and Graduate PLUS Loan
is determined on the basis of the information you provide on the
FAFSA. You must also complete Part I
(PDF) of the UConn Application for Financial Aid if you are
applying for these loans. If you are applying for the Federal
Subsidized Stafford Loan, the Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan
and/or the Graduate PLUS Loan only, you are not required to
provide parental information and should refer to the How to Apply
for Financial Aid – I.

Students who wish to be considered for institutional
scholarships, loans and Title VII funds in addition to the Federal
Stafford Loans, must submit a FAFSA and complete
Part I (PDF) and
Part II (PDF) of the UConn
Application for Financial Aid. Parent financial information must
be included in both the UConn Application and the FAFSA even if you
claim financial independence. Please note: if you are
applying for institutional aid other to the Federal Stafford and
Graduate PLUS Loans, you must fill out Step Four of the FAFSA,
even if you have answered "yes" to any of the questions in Step
Three. If you do not fill out all sections of Step Four, you will
not be considered for any financial aid other than the Federal
Stafford Loans. Refer to the How to Apply for Financial Aid – I
and II.

Entering students should apply upon
notification of their acceptance. No late fees will be assessed if
forms are filed within a reasonable period after notification of
acceptance.

International students must present documentary
evidence of their ability to meet all expenses for at least the
first year of study and an acceptable plan for financing the
remainder of their program, before a student visa can be issued.
International students are not eligible for federal loans and
scholarships.

Fill out the FAFSA using completed 2007 federal
tax returns. If you have not or will not file a 2007 U.S. Income Tax
Return, you must complete the
2008-2009 Student Non-Tax Filer Statement (PDF) and return
to the Financial Aid Office.

Communicate any special circumstance in writing with
documentation directly to the Financial Aid Office.

The information you provide on the FAFSA is subject to
verification according to guidelines issued by the U.S. Department
of Education.

Seek outside aid! The Financial Aid Office notifies
students by email of scholarship opportunities as they arise. The
most comprehensive list of scholarships and grants can be found on
