Visiting Students

The University of Connecticut School of Medicine welcomes visiting students to its fourth-year elective rotations, provided they meet the necessary requirements and space is available. Applicants are asked to review the memorandum carefully for eligibility and application requirements. All visiting rotations are scheduled through the Office of Medical Education unless otherwise specified in the attachments. Applicants applying for any other elective experiences, not included in the Index of Electives, should consult the dean for Academic Affairs and Education.

Prospective visiting students applying for elective clerkship opportunities should print the application and submit the required forms. Applications will be considered only when all required information is received, including two copies of the completed application, a clerkship verification form and immunization form, and submit to the Clinical Program Scheduling Coordinator. Applicants can access the Index of Electives for fourth-year and the corresponding course numbers.

Please note the following requirements related to submission of a formal application, review, and approval for an elective:

  1. The application form must be completed by the student applicant (Section I) and the Dean (Section II) of the student’s parent medical school program and submitted to the Office of Clinical Education at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
  2. A second form describing the applicant’s clinical background (Basic Clerkship Verification Form for Visiting Students) must be completed and submitted.
  3. The Office of Clinical Education can take no action on applications from visiting students until May 15 for the upcoming year beginning July 1 through June 30.
  4. Applications must be received at least two months prior to the start date of any clerkship rotation.
